I have a butterfly mind and a seemingly endless capacity to try out new things. Of the things I have tried, I keep coming back to the activities I enjoyed most as a child-natural history, painting and growing things. This website is a diary of my efforts to record the great outdoors in pencils and paint.
I live in that part of England that is both west and south, in a small town, near a small city and surrounded by beautiful countryside-rolling downland, gentle hills, meandering rivers, honey-coloured stone buildings. It is the landscape of gentle emotions. And gentle emotions are (mostly) what you will find here.
I would love there to be a dialogue here-so please leave a comment or contact me

And there is a gardening and wildlife blog here too

Dear Judith – a landscape of gentle emotions? Sounds like Hardy’s Wessex though emotions ran high here too. Such a pleasure popping by to see your latest paint post – a daily dose of simple beauty. Thank you
Laura
Hi Judith,
I´m Brazilian-Italian, living in Rio, a very disturbing city in many ways. A city that has many paradise gardens e many hells spots. I used to feel like beeing English in other lifes, maybe because of gardens and gentle manners. I feel free to tell you that your simple and creative and warming approach of life has made my life happier. Finding you blog was like find an ET that is just like me!
I have felt a sincronicity of being and way of looking at this world, including the inside one as you describe your mind like a butterfly one… although I used to sign emails for close friends as “Little bee”. (pardon for this very intimity so suddenly, it was irresistable)
Wish you all the best,
Yours,
Silvia
You are very skilled. I’ve enjoyed browsing your watercolours
Thank you kestrelart and I am glad you have enjoyed your visit.
